Experience

I am an advocate for students in education. I believe that it is my job as an educator to figure out how each student learns so I can assist them in meeting their learning goals. It is my job to TEACH! I believe that a high quality education begins with high quality education professionals who have a broad range of experience. I have spent the past 15 years earning degrees and experience in order to become a high quality educator. My previous experience includes working as a classroom teacher, working as a tutor with children from the 4th grade and up. It is important to note that I have also worked with students of all ages with learning issues such as ADD, Auditory processing, and visual impairments. I am a goal- oriented, culturally sensitive collaborator and leader with excellent team and project management skills. As a dynamic public speaker, I have delivered academic and motivational presentations to diverse audiences of parents, staff and students ranging in size from 5 to 600. I am an advocate for students; I work with under-served populations to promote education access and attainment through program development and educational leadership. My experience also includes working with high school and trade teachers on strategies for curriculum development with differentiated instruction in a variety of content areas. I have extensive experience working with English learners in a variety of settings including public and private schools, community outreach settings, and individual tutoring. One of my areas of expertise includes working with Spanish speaking ESL students in monolingual classroom settings using contrastive analysis as a tool for deep understanding. As a teacher, I have expert level understanding of current principles of teaching and learning in a student-centered classroom. As a staff trainer for professional development, I understand how to work collegially with colleagues to cultivate motivation and meet learning goals in a supportive environment. I actively work in the community creating connections between students, teachers, community workforce, and business development regardless of race, religion, age, gender identity, or sexual preference. My goals include increasing multicultural understanding with staff and students to build a strong learning community that promotes individual and group achievement
