Experience
I have 15 years of experience in education, working in various positions as a school psychologist, school counselor, and currently, as a substitute teacher for grades K-8 and as a tutor. I also home school my 10 year old son. My experience in the public schools includes working with students with a wide variety of academic needs, including students with various learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, and autism. Working as a substitute teacher primarily at the elementary level, I have the opportunity to teach all core academic areas. Furthermore, I am familiar with the common core standards, using curriculum that is aligned with the common core standards for math and language arts. My expertise is in teaching reading, language arts, and elementary math, and my experience also extends to working with college bound students, assisting them with college essays. Teaching for the last six years, I have found that I have a passion for it, especially working with students in small groups or one-on-one where I have more of an opportunity than working with large classroom sizes to focus on students' individualized needs. I believe that students are unique and strive to devise my lesson plans according to students' individual learning styles and abilities. I look forward to meeting new students and their families.
